The 12th season of the NBC weight loss competition, which premieres on September 20, will feature a new age twist where the players are divided into three age groups - under 30s, 30-49, and over 50s.
Kournikova and fellow new trainer Dolvett Quince will join regular trainer Bob Harper in the first episode, where the teams will have to choose which trainer to work with depending on how they finish in the first challenge.
Speaking in a video on the Biggest Loser website, the tennis star and certified fitness instructor said that she is looking forward to sharing her expertise with the new contestants.
"This season will be very interesting and different," she said. "We have the battle of the ages so you have someone who is 21 years old and someone in their early 60s. You have college girls and boys and grandmothers.
"They all have such different and incredible stories. I'm sure everyone watching at home will be able to relate with at least one contestant and have their favourites and be able to root for certain people."

Kournikova went on to say that her goal for the season is to educate the contestants about health and nutrition so they can continue their weight loss journey when they leave the ranch and return home.
"I'm sure and confident that it will be a great season. We're going to get these contestants to a wonderful weight for them. We're going to get them healthy, off their medication and educate them with health and nutrition and all other aspects of it. They will be able to take it with them, not only do it while they are on the ranch, but use it in their real life."
The Biggest Loser returns Tuesday, September 20 at 8/7c on NBC.
