'Biggest Loser' axes another after pentathlon, Apolo Anton Ohno visit

By
Biggest Loser's ninth week kicks off with Alison telling the contestants they will be competing in a pentathlon! Not only that, but the competition is going to singles! And the yellow line has returned! The person who has the most points at the end of the pentathlon will secure immunity at the weigh-in, but the person who comes in last gets a 1lb disadvantage.

Event 1 - Popularity Contest

Contestants have just one minute to rank the other players in order of popularity. Everybody has different ideas on how to do it - Ramon and Antone put the biggest competition at the bottom, Bonnie puts the teachers at the top, John goes according to weight loss, Sunny ranks in alphabetical order etc. We'll find out the results later.

Event 2 - Pegs

Each contestant has three pegs. They have to run across the court, grab a coloured peg cover with their name on it, and cover one of the contestants' pegs with their cover. The winner is the person who is the last to get all three pegs covered. In the end it's Sunny who is the last person standing.

Next up for John is a pretty serious workout at the gym with Dolvett, although he doesn't like Dolvett's tactic of dropping a medicine ball on his stomach while he works on the weights. Dolvett tells John he has to trust him to get the results and John agrees.

Event 3 - Trivia Questions

Alison asks the players seven trivia questions about nutrition, such as which food group provides the most energy, which cheese has the least calories, and how many calories you have to cut from your daily intake to lose 1lb per week (answer was 500).

The standings after rounds two and three have Antone at the top with 11 points, followed by Becky (9), Sunny, (8), Bonnie (7), Vinny (7), John (4) and Ramon (4).

Dolvett takes John to one side later that day to talk about his life. Dolvett shows him a scrapbook of his family memories and recounts being separated from his family as a child and then fostered and adopted. He tells John he understands what it's like to not trust those around you but says he has "fight" and no-one can take that away from him.

Dolvett says: "When I dig deep for you in that gym I dig from a personal place... I know what it's like to doubt yourself and not believe but you gotta fight."

Event 4 - Pool

Contestants have to pull themselves across the pool on a float by using a series of ropes suspended above the water. Sunny is the quickest, followed by John, Vinny, Antone, Becky, Ramon and Bonnie.

Next up is the Last Chance Workout with Anna, Bob and Dolvett, and everyone is working really hard. Sunny and Antone are tied for first place at this point but Sunny says she can't rely on that to ensure she stays above the yellow line. Dolvett is pushing Bonnie "harder than she has ever been pushed" before, while Bob tells Becky that she has gained a swagger since starting at the ranch, and Antone is aiming to pass the 100lbs weight loss mark this week.

John later tells Dolvett that being open about his life isn't easy for him but he wants to try. He shows Dolvett a scrapbook of memories from his life and talks about his father's passing and his own future.

Event 5 - Apolo Anton Ohno visits

Eight-time Olympic medalist Apolo Anton Ohno visits the ranch after the Last Chance Workout bearing Subway sandwiches. Over dinner, he tells them his nickname as a child was 'Chunky' but then he found sport and it changed his life.

The fifth event of the pentathlon is running a mile, and Apolo runs alongside the contestants to provide support and encouragement. Ramon wins first place, followed by John, Sunny, Becky, Antone, Vinny and Bonnie.

The Weigh In

Alison opens the weigh-in by revealing the overall results of the pentathlon. Antone is in first place and gets immunity. Bonnie is in last place.

Becky and Bonnie fall below the yellow line and face elimination. Bonnie tells everyone that she has enjoyed the experience and accomplished her goals but that she is ready to leave and wants Becky to continue. Everyone follows her wishes.

In a post elimination video we learn that Bonnie has lost 68lbs and "feels like [she] is 40 again". She tells us that it's never too late to get healthy and she's been using the Biggest Loser Club to aid her journey at home. "When they told me on the ranch 63 was just a number, now I know what they mean."
