'Biggest Loser' recap: Top 3 revealed for season 12 after marathon

By
Biggest Loser's penultimate week begins with our final four contestants each heading home to greet their friends and family and show how far they have come since arriving at the ranch.

Becky's off to Benton, AK, having lost 66lbs so far. "I'm coming home a brand new person," she tells us. "There are a lot of layers that have been peeled off. I feel so much better about myself, so much stronger." Antone, meanwhile, is returning to Knoxville, TN having lost 124lbs, and wonders whether people will remember him from his NFL days or from being 400lbs.

Over in Mesa, AZ, John tells us that he's changed inside and out thanks to his 149lbs weight loss and now believes in himself and has "strength, energy and desire", while in Nashville, TN, a 112lbs-lighter Vinny feels like a champion returning home as part of the top four.

Everybody is greeted by their loved ones at an event in their hometown, with Vinny making an original entrance by joining his bandmates on stage for a performance. Afterwards, it's time to watch the videos that the trainers have sent in which they express their pride and show highlights from each contestants' journey on the ranch.

The next day Vinny takes his girlfriend Lori to the Grand Ole Opry where he proposes! (Read all about their engagement here). Antone, meanwhile, is literally using his kids as bench press weights!

Each of the contestants also gets a surprise visit from their trainer. Bob admits that Vinny was the one he was worried about because he's so social, so he's happy to see he's been working hard. He also meets Vinny's brother who has five kids and also now wants to get healthy, something which Vinny has promised to help him with.

Becky is the only one of the contestants to have returned to work, where Bob surprises her while she is teaching a math class, as well as checking in with Antone. Meanwhile, Dolvett has travelled to Arizona to see John, but he's concerned that John is focusing on his training and letting his wife take care of everything else like the cleaning and cooking. Dolvett tells John that isn't really preparing him for real life but John says his focus now is the finale.

Soon, it's time for the 26.2-mile marathon that will guarantee one player a spot in the final three for season twelve. Our four finalists are joined by the 11 eliminated contestants for the trek through the desert, which starts on a dry lake bed, before moving on to pavement, dirt road, and then returning to the lake bed.

The first place finisher will also get $25,000 from Walgreens, with the next four finishers getting $10,000, $7,500, $5,000 and $2,500 respectively. Bonnie decides to sit out the marathon because she's due to undergo knee surgery soon.

It's a long, hard race for everybody, but also a time to reflect on how far they have all come in their journey. Unfortunately for Vinny and Joe, they're both unable to complete the marathon because Dr. Huizenga decides to pull them out on medical grounds. Vinny is 6.2 miles from the finish, while Joe is just 5 miles short.

Ramon finishes in first place and scoops the $25,000 and place in the final three. Courtney comes in second, followed by John, Jessica and Patrick. The remaining order is Sunny, Jennifer, Antone and Becky, Coach, Johnny and Debbie.
