'Housewives' Leakes critiques Emmy arrivals

Real Housewives of Atlanta star NeNe Leakes critiqued guests while they arrived on the Emmy Awards red carpet.

The Bravo reality show personality was paired with America's Next Top Model presenter Jay Manuel for the E! telecast as a fashion consultant, the Kansas City Star reports.

During the broadcast, she told Manuel: "I'm just trying to see the real fashions, because I'm not impressed yet."

As former Will & Grace actress Debra Messing turned up for the ceremony, Leakes's co-presenter declared the star's fashion choice as "safe".

However, Leakes had her own opinion of the dress, saying: "To me, Debra's looking really plain and simple. Really, she could have just put that on and went shopping at the grocery store. I mean, really, it's just really plain and simple, though, Jay. It's not bam, hot. Debra Messing, I would expect her to be fly."

Later, she admitted that she didn't care for Gossip Girl actress Leighton Meester's low-cut Grecian-inspired gown, adding that "the shoulder pads are huge".

Manuel replied that they were "stylish knots", before Leakes countered: "Well, those knots, you can climb a mountain with those knots."
