'Hills' duo for 'How I Met Your Mother'

The Hills stars Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt have signed up to appear in CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother.

Pratt told Us magazine: "Heidi and I are honoured to be part of such a successful show. I don't want to give anything away... but I'm the mother."

Co-creator Craig Thomas commented: "We can confirm that Heidi and Spencer will appear on the show, but we can't give away anything specific about the episode.

"All we can say is that they play themselves."

Britney Spears played a receptionist in two episodes of the programme earlier this year. Her cameos earned the show its highest ratings ever.

Montag and Pratt will shoot their scenes next week. The episode is scheduled to air in January.
