'Survivor Samoa': Episode 4 recap

The episode opens with members of Foa Foa analysing Ben's elimination at Tribal Council. Russell H appears upset about voting Ben off while Jaison states that "coming here is the worst decision I have made in my entire life". Following a conversation on the beach, Russell concludes that if Ben had stayed Jaison would have quit and with that mentality Jaison is of no further use to him.

In Galu's camp, Shambo feels that her visit to Foa Foa has highlighted problems she is having with her own tribe. Eric takes Shambo aside to talk about her immunity idol clues, thinking the Galu idol may be in a similar place to Foa Foa's. In the middle of negotiations John arrives with an almost identical proposal. Shambo shares her knowledge with both men, hoping that her honesty will help her in the game.

Tree mail invites the tribe chiefs to pick teams and compete in a reward challenge. Russell S picks Shambo and Dave for Galu while Mick chooses Russell H and Natalie for Foa Foa. Both teams wait on the beach but Jeff does not appear. After waiting for a while, the teams decide to go ahead. Instructions inside the chest reveal that the teams must take three coloured balls each and throw them into a circle, getting them to land as close to a central flag as possible. The team with the closest ball to the flag wins. Foa Foa leads throughout the challenge but Dave throws the final ball for Galu and lands it touching the flag, winning the tribe a coop of chickens.

While the teams are competing in the reward challenge, Erik uses the time to search for the Galu immunity idol, finally locating it in a tree. He decides to keep the information from his tribemates and conceals the idol behind a rock.

Shambo tells Russell S that she's a country girl and knows how to look after chickens so he puts her in charge of caring for them. Shambo squats in front of the coop making chicken noises as Dave looks on.

In Foa Foa, Russell H plans to take his alliance with Natalie as far as possible because he believes she is too stupid to make it on her own and she will be easy to beat towards the end. Natalie reveals that she is currently Russell's wing man and that she plans to use the fact that he underestimates her to her advantage. Natalie states that Russell has repeatedly misread his fellow contestants.

Shambo calls for help in Galu's camp after a chicken escapes the coop. Dave describes the ensuing chicken chase as 'pure comedy' and we see Erik being clotheslined by the clothes line. The chicken flies up a tree and Shambo confesses that she didn't know chickens could fly, much to Russell S's incredulity.

For the immunity challenge, the teams carry blocks across a net run. The blocks are to be stacked one on top of another to form a tower. After building the block tower, the contestants cross a rope bridge to net bags full of blocks which must be stacked to form a taller tower. Galu take the lead after the first tower but Monica's slowness allows Foa Foa to catch up on the rope bridge and win their first immunity challenge.

Back in camp, Russell S and Erik discuss the challenge and agree that Monica's performance was "horrible". Monica, Dave, John and Laura feel that although Shambo has made some huge mistakes, Yasmin does nothing in the tribe. The members of Galu appear split between Monica's friendliness and Yasmin's strong challenge performances. Russell S feels that votes for Yasmin are votes against his leadership.

At Tribal Council, Brett accuses Yasmin of not pulling her weight in camp. Russell S notes that challenges form the team's base and are crucial for a strong tribe. Yasmin, who has worn high heels to Tribal Council, agrees and brings up Monica's poor challenge performance. Laura counters that actions in camp are important too. The final vote sees Yasmin eliminated with eight votes while Monica receives two.
