Later that day, the group finds a cell phone message which alerts them to the day's reward challenge. The contestants are also treated to video messages from their family and friends back at home, an experience which is emotional for everyone.
The same afternoon, the group meets Jeff on the beach for this week's reward challenge. The winning player would win a boating trip down the coast of Nicaragua and be treated to sandwiches, cookies, champagne and several other foods and would be joined by his or her family members. Jeff then surprises the players by reuniting them with their loved ones to offer encouragement.
Explaining the challenge, Jeff tells the players that they must run up a plank and jump into a pool to retrieve a bag of letter tiles. They will then return the tiles to their family members and repeat the process. After the second bag has been retrieved, their loved ones must solve a puzzle to spell out a secret phrase. The first one to complete this would win this week's reward.
Fabio and Sash are the first to get both of their bags but the others catch up quickly. Chase's mother is the first to solve the task, spelling out "family comes first" and effectively winning the task. Chase is then offered the opportunity to bring two other players with him and chooses Sash and Holly without hesitation. Fabio is extremely upset with the choice, as he and Chase previously agreed that they would choose one another if either had won.
While partaking in the spread of food provided to the reward winners, Chase, Holly and Sash discuss forming their own alliance and decide to work towards becoming the final three. They admit that while Jane is also part of the alliance, their first loyalties are to one another.
Upon returning to camp that night, Chase approaches Fabio to discuss jilting him from the reward. Fabio is admittedly upset and explains that he only sees his mother twice a year but later admits that he does not want to make a big deal out of it because it could hurt him at Tribal Council. He then vows to try his hardest to win immunity.
Meeting Jeff on the beach the next morning for the immunity challenge, the group is told that they would be blindfolded and must make their way over and under a series of hitching rails and then memorise a series of symbols on a selected shield. They must then grab a bag of corresponding symbols and recreate the memorised one on their own. The first person to recreate his or her shield correctly first would then win immunity for the week.
Jane is the first to finish studying her puzzle, with Fabio and Holly following close behind. The contestants then begin recreating their shields. However, Fabio is the first to complete the task correctly, therefore guaranteeing his place in the finale.
Jane later confronts the group as to who they plan on voting out and they tell her honestly that they believe she will win the competition if they allow her to continue further. Holly admits that it is a difficult decision and Jane is understandably upset, particularly with Chase as she believed that they were close and had formed a bond.
At Tribal Council, Jane is eliminated with four votes. Speaking after her elimination, she says: "You find out real fast what people's true colours are out here. Sash is a liar and I've lost all respect for Holly. Chase was my buddy. I can't believe he decided to turn on me, but that's Survivor."
