CBS confirmed today that the reality show will broadcast its 23rd and 24th instalments during the 2011-2012 television season, with Probst continuing his role as host and executive producer.
"Survivor is a programme franchise that continues to stand the test of time," said Jennifer Bresnan, the network's vice president of alternative programming.
"Each season delivers new faces, exotic places, the ultimate social experiment combined with game play, and one of the most engaged audiences anywhere on primetime television."
The current season of Survivor- called Redemption Island - kicked off in Nicaragua last month. A newly introduced twist sees eliminated contestants arriving on a nearby island, where they must compete in a duel with the next eliminated contestant. The winner of the duel remains on the island to face the next eliminee and possibly even win the game, while the loser returns home for good.
Survivor airs Wednesday nights at 8/7c on CBS.
