So. we're in Polynesia where Jeff Probst delivers his opening monologue while casually leaning against the door of a helicopter in mid flight! Seriously!
First order of business is separating the new players into their tribes - the male Manono Tribe versus the female Salani Tribe - and Colton seems the most put-out by the news, pointing out he's essentially "the girl within the guy tribe". Other side-note - we have a Tarzan - aka Greg - and a Troyzan - aka Troy - competing this season! How confusing.

Jeff gives both tribes just 60 seconds to strip everything they can from a truck loaded with materials, and it doesn't take long for the drama to start when the girls accuse the guys of stealing stuff from them (which, apparently, Mike actually did do).
Sneaky Jeff then gives the tribes maps to their camps and sends them off in different directions… only for them to reconvene at their camps and realise that they are living together!
Oh, and there is no Redemption Island this season but Immunity Idols are in play.
En route to the camp, however, we see that alliances have already begun to form among the women (spurred on, apparently, by the mean men stealing their supplies).
After settling into camp it's time to catch some chickens - cue lots of running around trying to grab some. Chelsea ends up with two and the men are eager to claim one, using the whole 'we have to live together so we need to work together' claim (although Matt privately makes it clear the guys don't need the women at all). The girls are still smarting from the truck stealing incident so need some time to think about it.
Everyone gets to work constructing shelters - except Colton, who looks unhappy. Seems he wants to be on the girls' team and sets to work making friends with them (and earning himself the nickname Country Club Colton from Sabrina) while the men build the shelter. Matt thinks that Colton will have trouble identifying with the "manly men" on the Manono Tribe and warns if he doesn't fix that and work with the guys he will be going home fast.
Alliances are also starting to form among the guys - namely Matt, Mike, Jay and Bill aka "the young, fit guys". Matt thinks they are the "dominant alliance" and they are "sitting pretty".
The men get a fire going quickly - but the women are struggling. So much so, in fact, that Sabrina decides to offer the men a chicken in exchange for a fire. No go. The women even try to steal an ember from the fire, but that doesn't work either. What about if Monica drops her pants? Men still aren't interested.
The only thing for it is a cunning, night-time assault on the men's camp. Get in. Get the ember. Get out safely. Christina and Monica make their move - and get the ember! Mission accomplished! Unfortunately, despite all that effort, it fizzles out by the morning. So, it's back to the men to offer a new deal - weaving 20 branches in exchange for fire.
Elsewhere, Sabrina's found the first idol! Sadly for her, it's for the Manono Tribe and the rules say she must give it to someone on that tribe before the next Tribal Council. In a stroke of coincidental timing, Colton's going around asking the women to help him find an idol. Sabrina figures why not? "This is my saving grace," says Colton.
The first immunity challenge - which gives fire as a reward - is a big obstacle course which begins with the players having to jump off a high platform into a net and then run along a balance beam. Medics are called in when Kourtney hurts her arm and she's removed from the challenge over fears it is broken.
The men, who were leading, have the option of continuing to play with the women one player down, or taking the immunity and leaving. They choose the latter - much to the annoyance of the women.
Alicia says she likes to bond with women better so she's happy for an all-female tribe. Kat says everyone on the tribe has a separate role - she handles the fire. Which, of course, makes Jeff ask what happened with the fire and it all descends into bickering over what exactly did happen.
Jeff thinks it's almost like they don't have a leader - and they're all laughing about it like it's funny. He says they have huge animosity between two people, no structure, and the guys are thinking the girls are right where they want them - Nutsville.
Before the vote there is a bombshell - Kourtney is out of the game because her wrist is broken. But, luckily for the women, that also means none of them are going home tonight! Even better, they finally have fire!
