The 25-year-old advertising account manager decided to leave the competition during last night's episode, after telling Pavelka that she had to choose between him and her job.
Writing on his People blog, Pavelka said: "My heart crumbled when she told me her boss demanded her back at work. I didn't actually think she would leave me. She actually didn't have to be back at work for four or five more days but we were leaving the country the next morning, so she had to make a decision.
"I felt like she wanted me to make the choice for her, but I couldn't. How could I live with myself if I told her, 'No! You are not leaving me now!' and then realise a week or two later that she was not 'the one'."
The airline pilot continued to say that his "heart stopped" when Ali made her decision, but added: "I had to regain my composure and focus on the amazing women I had left, three women that I have fallen in love with."
Pavelka and the remaining women - Vienna, Tenley and Gia - will travel to St Lucia in next week's instalment of the romance reality.
