Maynard, who accepted Womack's proposal in the season finale of The Bachelor this spring, announced last month that she had broken up with the Texas-based bar owner.
Speaking to host Chris Harrison on Monday night's episode of The Bachelorette, she said: "I will always be in love with Brad. No-one will ever hear me say a bad word about him. Not a day will go by that I won't regret how things turned out. I can promise nobody is more disappointed than I am.
"This was my worst nightmare. I just always believed or thought that as long as you loved each other it would work."
Maynard also made an appeal for privacy, adding: "Right now, I just want to focus on being a mum, and not having to worry about... somebody who's in the bushes taking pictures, or if something I tell a girlfriend is gonna end up in a magazine the next day.
"I think all this attention brings out the worst in people... you don't know who to turn to, so you end up just staying by yourself and that makes you even more sad."
Womack did not appear in the pre-recorded interview, although he was reportedly happy for Maynard to discuss their split.
The then-couple revealed during After the Final Rose that they had briefly separated due to the "trials and tribulations" that couples go through.
ABC has not commented on press speculation that Maynard is in talks to become the next Bachelorette.
The Bachelorette airs Mondays at 8/7c on ABC.
