Upon arriving in Park City, the tension is a little high - especially for Nicki, who is worried that the girls who haven't previously had much time with Ben might end up being his favourite. Chris meets the contestants at the Canyon Resort and tells them that there are three dates this week - two one-on-one dates and one group date.
Lindzi reads the first card, which reveals that Rachel will get her chance to go on a one-on-one date with Ben. She's excited about the prospect of spending time with him, but worries because she feels pressured to open up quickly while her last relationship ended because of lack of communication. Rachel upsets Kacie B, who begins to cry as she struggles with seeing Ben spend time with another woman since she's already fallen for him. However, she is glad that she gets to see him for just a minute when he comes to pick Rachel up.
Ben's date with Rachel
The pair depart in a helicopter as the other girls look on. They partake in an aerial tour of the mountains and eventually land in a meadow and head off hand-in-hand to a lakefront, where a canoe is waiting for them to head out in. As they paddle off-shore, Ben remarks that it's "so romantic" and they share a kiss. After, they share a bottle of wine in a mini picnic - though a little awkwardness ensues when the conversation comes to a halt. Ben tries to make small talk, remarking on a nearby beaver's den and the sun shining ahead.
Back at the house, Monica and Kacie talk about how much it "sucks" that Rachel is off on a date with Ben. Kacie admits that she didn't expect it to be so hard, and Monica thinks it's because she had the first one-on-one date with him. She also picks her brain about her insecurities but Kacie insists that she doesn't want to talk about it. However, Monica attempts to assuage her by saying that she does not think that Rachel and Ben will have any chemistry.

Later that night, Ben remarks that there's something that he can't put his finger on that's missing with Rachel, as she says that she's interested in him but doesn't show it. He wonders if it just takes her a little bit more time to open up and insists that he's not ready to open up, so they go inside for dinner but things don't really get any better when Rachel admits that she's only been in one relationship as she feels that it's "not worth it" if it's not working.
Ben is looking for someone to fall in love with and while Rachel struggles to open herself up to him, she wants to show him her real self and stay in the competition. She admits that in her past relationships, she found it hard to open up but urges him to push her on it sometimes so that she can take chances and get to know him more and more. Her confession pleases Ben, who wants to "dive in a bit deeper" and gives her the rose, guaranteeing that they'll get to know one another more.
After dinner, the pair go outside to make smores over the campfire and kiss, with Ben saying that he expects their relationship to be a "slow burn" but he loves spending time with her and is happy to have her around.
The group date
The girls chosen for the group date are met by Ben in a field when he rides across the river on a horse. Everyone then saddles up and crosses back over for a leisurely ride, during which they take in the gorgeous scenery. After, they come to another body of water, where Ben reveals that they'll all be going fly fishing. Equipped with their own boots, waders and rods, they walk in to try and catch their lunch for the day.
Again, Kacie is upset to be competing for Ben's attention with so many other girls. Still, he comes over to have some time with her, teaching her how to fish. This development doesn't please Courtney, who thinks that the day is not so much about catching fish as it is about catching Ben. She hopes to turn the day into a one-on-one date and manages to pull him away from the others.
Ben admittedly loves spending time with Courtney because she "gets it". However, their moment is soon interrupted when Lindzi comes over to get in on the action - though she's disappointed when Courtney catches a fish before anyone else. The other girls are admittedly jealous at the turn of events and Courtney is pretty sure that she has stolen the show.

Later that evening, everyone shares a glass of wine over dinner and Ben asks to see Kasey S for some private time. When they sit alone, they discuss their past relationships. Soon they're interrupted by Nicki, who's been on two group dates but has yet to have much alone time with him. She thanks him for bringing her on the group date, which he answers by saying that she thrives in a group setting. They also share their intention to live life to the fullest as they both have recently lost friends. They share a kiss but are then interrupted by Samantha.
Samantha wonders why she's been on three group dates in a row as she has no idea what he's thinking. She says that she needs a longer amount of time with him as she doesn't see the point in group dates, but he thinks it's a good chance for them to watch and observe. He also admits that she's been highly emotional on the dates and he wonders if she's there for the right reasons and takes it seriously. "From what I've seen up to this point, I don't think I see this going much further," he tells her - much to Samantha's chagrin.
Ben then tells her that given her track record, he believes that they should end their relationship now and she is unceremoniously sent home. The other girls are shocked at the development. "He wasn't into me and that's what hurts me the most. I liked Ben so much - it breaks my heart," Samantha says upon leaving. Courtney is the only one who's "really happy" about her exit.
When he rejoins the women, Ben explains his decision by telling them that he has always promised to be honest with them and had to be honest about his lack of feelings for Samantha. He then takes Kacie B aside for some private time in his hotel room. This is a consolation to Kacie, especially when he admits that he wanted to kiss her in the river but was nervous as the other girls were all staring at him. They then share a few kisses and both of them are feeling good about their relationship.
Ben admits that he's "in trouble" as he's developed a lot of feelings for her - he likes her smile and demeanor and loves being around her. However, once they head back, Courtney is on the warpath and takes him away, vowing to get the rose. She tells him that she's "so strong" of a woman but that it's tough to see other women with him. She admits that she's "lost sight" of them and it's getting her down. Ben responds that he has feelings for her and it hasn't changed. He apologises for the fact that she's having a rough time, but offers her no other consolation.
After their conversation, Ben decides to give Courtney the rose as a reassurance since she is so down. Clearly this was part of her masterplan all along, and while she secretly insists that she "deserves it", the other girls are furious about the development.
Ben's date with Jennifer
Ben comes to pick Jennifer up at the hotel and they head out for a little hike, which she is in no way dressed for. They climb over a 'no trespassing' sign and cross into an area with a crater. Ben tells her that they're going to go spelunking and she quietly freaks out as she's a bit scared of heights. The drop is 300 feet and while they prepare to repel downwards, Jennifer tries not to freak out.
They go downward together and hang in mid-air before letting go and falling into the water below. Jennifer thinks it's "beautiful, serene and perfect" and loves spending alone time with Ben down there. Ben is proud that she went out of her comfort zone and took the plunge despite being so scared. As they tread water, they share a little kiss.
That afternoon, they take a tram ride before going to have a campside dinner. Of course they discuss Jennifer's past relationships and she admits that she's chosen the wrong person in the past. For his part, Ben wants a woman that's independent but still wants him and needs him. She thinks that she'd have no problem adjusting to his hectic lifestyle and they both find it romantic when it starts pouring down with rain.
Once they come inside, Ben gives her the rose, admitting that while he originally wasn't sure if he could see a future with her but actually felt extremely comfortable with her all day. They then walk into a Clay Walker concert which is being given just for them - though plenty of extras are in attendance. They get out and dance together and have a great time.
The cocktail party
Since Rachel, Courtney and Jennifer all have roses, Emily wonders what it is about them that's grabbed Ben's attention since they're such different women. When Ben arrives, he thanks the women for "being open" and sticking with it since relationships are developing and feelings are running high. He then reveals that he believes that his wife is in that room and it feels good.
When Ben takes Monica away for a one-on-one chat, Emily questions whether she should tell Ben about Courtney's real self. She compares Courtney to a marble statue - "extremely beautiful but cold". Eventually, she pulls him aside and says that Courtney shows a different side to him than she does to the rest of the girls. Ben says that he watches how the girls interact and didn't notice.
He also tells Emily that she will "go crazy" if she thinks too much about it and it will end up in her own "demise". He says that Courtney should not consume everything she's doing and advises her to focus more on their own relationship, though Emily is not impressed with that idea. However, her conversation is one that she feels may backfire on her and make her the one who's sent home.
Emily and Kasey S get into an argument when Kasey stands up for Courtney, calling her "one of the realest people". She then immediately goes off to Courtney and tells her everything that happens. Courtney thinks that Emily is an "idiot" for using her one-on-one time with Ben to talk about her and hopes that Emily is sent home. Courtney then says that she wants to "rip [Emily's] head off" and vows to get revenge.
Next, Ben takes one on one time with Nicki and they go upstairs to the balcony and catch snow on their tongues and share a kiss. Downstairs, Kacie attempts to diffuse the attention by asking the girls who has learned a lot about themselves. This sparks Courtney's lashing out at Emily, telling her that she looks stupid and that it's "not a good look" to have talked to Ben about her. The issue gets to her, though they don't have too much time to think about it as it's time for the Rose Ceremony.
The Rose Ceremony
Ben admits that this week is a "turning point" in the competition as feelings are getting real and relationships have been developing quickly. However, one girl will be going home as there are only 8 roses to give out and 9 girls yet to receive one.
Lindzi is given hers first and happily accepts, followed by Jamie, Nicki and Kacie B. Next up, Elise takes her rose, as do Blakeley and Kasey S. With one rose remaining, Ben considers his decision for a moment before offering it to Emily, meaning Monica is sent home.
Ben walks Monica to her limo and as she is tearfully driven away, she admits: "It sucks when someone doesn't feel the way you feel. It's the most painful thing in this world. I want what I didn't get here. I want a marriage, I want kids, I want all that good stuff. I just... I want it to last and I want it to be right. I'm skeptical that it even exists anymore."
