Emily brought up her concerns about Courtney during her one-on-one time with Flajnik at the cocktail party, reasoning that he would rather know what is "really going on" than have the women keep silent.
She told Flajnik: "I feel like there is one girl here who is very different around you than she is around the rest of the girls... It bothers me to see someone else is connecting with you and making this impression on you."
Flajnik told Emily that she "would go nuts" if she tried to read into the situation and it could lead to her own demise, with Emily later worrying that her choice to talk about Courtney could backfire. Fortunately for her, she did receive a rose at the rose ceremony.
Writing in his Entertainment Weekly blog, host Chris Harrison said that Emily had ignored the other women's advice not to "trash-talk" Courtney during her time with Ben.
"This was a huge mistake on many levels," he said. "First of all, Ben clearly likes Courtney, and secondly he hates drama, especially when it's thrown in his face. Ben politely told Emily to move on or it could lead to her own demise. This was a tactical error on Emily's part. She just didn't think the whole thing through and it definitely hurt her."
Harrison added: "Courtney is a formidable opponent, and if Emily is going to really take her on she better rethink her strategy or Courtney will have the last laugh."
Meanwhile, former Bachelorette Ali Fedotowsky shared her thoughts on the Emily/Courtney situation on Twitter, after Courtney confronted Emily on what she had said.
She wrote: "Yes Courtney is being a mean girl but she totally had the right to call Emily out & Emily shouldn't have pretended to be clueless about it. But I still love Emily and feel bad for her :( #Bachelor. (sic)"
Fedotowsky also added: "Ben is so right when he says "You are going to go crazy if you try to read into this" SO SO TRUE! But be nice Ben! #Bachelor."
This week's episode of The Bachelor saw the women leaving Flajnik's hometown of San Francisco for Park City, UT, where two women were sent home.
Samantha departed the show after Flajnik told her during the group date that he didn't see a future for their relationship, while Monica was sent home at the rose ceremony.
Next week Flajnik and his remaining women will travel to Puerto Rico.
