Courtney stole some one-on-one time with Flajnik during the fly-fishing portion of the group date and again at the after-party, eventually securing the group date rose for this week.
Writing in her weekly blog for Ladies' Home Journal (which can be read in full here), former Bachelorette star Fedotowsky gave her thoughts on what happened.
> 'Bachelor' Emily made mistake "trash talking" Courtney, says Chris Harrison
Fedotowsky wrote: "As frustrating as it was for me to see Courtney be mean to the other girls, I think she did the right thing on the group date by pulling Ben away to get some one-on-one time. I feel like I can't be mad at her for that. Still, I wasn't happy with how nasty she was to the other girls."
She went on to suggest that although viewers might have a certain opinion of Courtney, it could be similar to the situation with Michelle Money when she was a contestant on Brad Womack's season of The Bachelor, saying that although people thought Money was a villain, she is actually a "sweetheart" in real life.
"This could also be the case with Courtney," she wrote. "Don't get me wrong, she says a lot of mean things and is acting a little immature in many instances, but I don't think she realises what she's doing."
Fedotowsky added: "Obviously she's not being very nice, but we also don't know how much of this is because of editing. Sometimes your humour doesn't come off the way you want it to."
Host Chris Harrison has also suggested that Courtney could be this season's Michelle Money, telling Live with Kelly! this week that it will be interesting to see whether Courtney is playing a game or truly interested in Flajnik.
"The way she is going about it, yes, it's controversial, and if you think that's bad now, wait for next week and the weeks that follow. But, what if she really is in love with this guy?" he said. "We had a girl on our show a couple of seasons ago, Michelle Money, who was the villain and has turned out to be one of the most beloved girls in our dysfunctional family now."
This week's The Bachelor saw Flajnik choosing to send home both Samantha Levey and Monica Spannbauer in Park City, UT.
Samantha was sent home during the group date after Flajnik realised he didn't see a future for them, while Monica failed to receive a rose at the rose ceremony.
Next week's episode will see Flajnik and the remaining women travelling to Puerto Rico.
