The Bachelorette rode away into the sunset with an impressive audience for the end of its eighth season.

Emily Maynard's final choice of Jef Holm attracted an average of 8.6m (3.0) to ABC between 8pm and 10pm, three demo points higher than last year's finale.

The Bachelorette: After The Final Rose followed with a superb 9.1m (3.2), up four points year-on-year.

Meanwhile, Fox's coverage of the Teen Choice Awards enthralled 3m (1.1), steady on the network's screening of the 2011 event.

Due to the fierce competition, Big Brother plummeted to 5.4m (1.9), dropping considerably on last week's broadcast.

Dependable Dateline scored 4.2m (1.0) between 7pm and 11pm.
