George Takei has joked that he "did not live long and prosper" on The Celebrity Apprentice.

The Star Trek actor was the third celebrity to be fired by Mr Trump on Sunday night (February 4) after serving as Project Manager for the losing men's team.

This week's task required each team to create two living window displays for Ivanka Trump's apparel line at Lord & Taylor, and after the men's team lost, Takei told Mr Trump that he was prepared to accept responsibility as the leader.

"That's what a Project Manager does," he said during an appearance on Today this morning. "President Truman said 'the buck stops here' and I happened to be the man occupying the desk where the buck stopped!

"I did not live long and prosper there!"

However, the actor said that he still believed the men had created a better window display than the women, despite the latter team getting the win.

"I still maintain that we had the more elegant and sophisticated window," he said. "Our window was Fifth Avenue, there's was 34th Street, very busy, everything but the kitchen sink."

Discussing his decision to bring Arsenio Hall and Lou Ferrigno back into the boardroom with him, he said: "You have to bring somebody in. I hated doing it. That is the most painful, excruciating part of being a Project Manager.

"Everybody pitched in and we did the work as a team, although there was one individual who was a little catty..."

When pressed for a name, he replied: "I'm sure you noticed it, it was on the show! I'm the oldest and [it was] the youngest member of our team, whose hair looks like he just got out of bed, or maybe he never went to bed..."

Al Roker then said: "So you will be buying a lot of Clay Aiken albums?"
