ABC cancels 'V' sky promotion
Published Wednesday, Oct 28 2009, 21:49 GMT | By Tim Parks

The network had planned to use skywriters to generate giant red Vs above 26 US landmarks multiple times a day, TV Guide reports.
The creations were to mimic the spaceships that float above worldwide locales during the alien-themed show's premiere episode, which stars Elizabeth Mitchell.
The termination of the promotional campaign follows a Washington Post article that highlighted the amount of pollution that the operation would cause. ABC's parent company Disney recently vowed to cut carbon emissions from fuels in half by 2012.
However, a spokesperson for the broadcaster stated that its decided to spend its money in a different fashion.
V premieres Tuesday, November 3 on ABC.
