The actress will reprise the role of scheming Georgina Sparks on the CW show later this year, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Sparks, who appeared in the Gossip Girl novels, made her debut in season one as an old nemesis of protagonist Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively). She was last seen being hauled off to boarding school by her parents.
Sources have revealed that Trachtenberg will appear in a multi-episode arc near the end of the second season.
Representatives for Gossip Girl have declined to comment.
