Meanwhile, Serena wakes up next to Colin - the cab stealer - and slips out. Back at home, Blair asks her where she was but Serena insists that she just talked to Colin all night. She explains that she doesn't want to just be one of his conquests. She asks Blair what's wrong and Blair admits that she had another Chuck nightmare. She asks why a girl with long hair would attack her, but a look of realisation appears on her face. Serena explains that she doesn't want to be late for class again and Blair says that she will meet her there.
Nate calls Dan and explains that he is on his way to meet his father in prison. Dan asks about Nate's night with Juliet and he reveals that he enjoyed it but was disappointed because Juliet left early in the morning, saying that she had to go to class. Dan advises him not to read too much into it and hangs up. As Nate heads towards the prison entrance, he spots Juliet. The pair go to chat outside and Nate explains that he was visiting his father. He admits that it is nice to have someone to talk to about the situation. He asks if Juliet was visiting someone and asks if it is her brother, who she mentioned earlier. Juliet claims that she is just volunteering for the prison literacy programme and explains that she told him she was going to class because she felt bad about leaving him for some convicts. Nate praises her for volunteering and asks if he can stop by her class after seeing his dad. Juliet looks worried and pretends she has received a text message saying that her session has been cancelled. As she leaves, Nate stares at her.
At Columbia, Serena sees Chuck and asks him if his "campus crusade" is still going on. Chuck claims that he likes the college and adds that he is looking forward to meeting the new psychology in business lecturer. When he leaves, Serena hears someone calling for her to keep the door open. When she turns round, she realises it is Colin. He admits that he is the new professor and Serena realises that she is now one of his students.
Meanwhile, Blair goes to Lily and Rufus's apartment and discovers that Jenny has returned to Manhattan. She announces that she banished Jenny, adding that she would only allow her to come back for holidays, birthdays or health emergencies. Jenny explains that she has an interview with Tim Gunn and is hoping for a recommendation for Parsons. Blair points out that it is still in Manhattan, but Jenny points out that Parsons is far from the Upper East Side and adds that she has always been interested in fashion. She asks for a day pass, promising that by the end of the day she will be gone and won't even return for Christmas. Blair grants her an amnesty until midnight but warns that she is not allowed to see or speak to anyone or set foot outside her apartment except for her interview. Jenny agrees.

At Rufus and Lily's, Eric and Dan are pleased to see that Jenny has come back for the day. Lily flicks through Jenny's portfolio and praises her work, leaving it on the counter. Rufus suggests that they go out for a family meal that night, but Jenny looks uncomfortable and claims that she would rather stay in and eat Rufus's chilli. She goes to finish her dresses and Eric and Dan follow, asking what's going on. Jenny admits that Blair stopped by and banned her from going out or seeing anyone. She adds that she isn't interested in warring with Blair anymore. Suddenly, Chuck arrives and calls out for someone. Dan goes to deal with him but refuses to let him see Jenny. Chuck agrees to take some Bass Industries blueprints and leave. As he picks up the folder, he takes Jenny's portfolio as well.
Back at Columbia, Serena finds Colin again and admits that relationships with faculty members are strictly forbidden and she doesn't want the previous night to affect how he treats her. Colin jokes that she didn't sound very convincing and invites her to a party for the New York Observer. He explains that he is getting the 'Eligible Bachelor' award and offers to give up his bachelor status if she postpones taking the psychology of business course for a semester. Serena agrees.
Jenny is preparing for her interview and gives her dresses to Vanya. He promises to order the driver to deliver them very carefully. Jenny picks up her phone and realises that Chuck is calling. He claims that he accidentally picked up her portfolio. Jenny begs him to bring it back immediately, explaining that she can't go out or see him. Chuck pretends that he is going into a meeting and reveals that he has left the portfolio at the front desk of the Empire. Jenny leaves to go to her interview and Blair's minions watch her. They grab a cab to follow her and, later, ring Blair to inform her that Jenny has gone into the Empire. Blair rings someone to find out the number of Tim Gunn's studio.
Jenny arrives at her interview and finds Dan waiting for her. He introduces Veronica, who works for Tim Gunn. She reveals that the models are getting dressed, adding that Tim is on a tight schedule. Dan promises to wait for her. Inside, Tim praises Jenny's resume and she decides to show him her collection. She explains that the dresses represent her idea of young women's self-confidence and self-worth. The models walk out, but when they turn round each dress has been daubed in a letter so that they spell out "whore". Tim is disgusted and dismisses Jenny, who tries to protest that she isn't responsible. Outside, Blair arrives and Dan explains that Jenny is already inside. Blair reveals that she has come for the "afterparty", and Jenny storms out angrily. Blair explains that she broke the terms of their agreement. When she has left, Chuck rings Dan and offers his assistance. He reveals that he can get Dan's entire family tickets to the New York Observer party, where Tim Gunn is being honoured. He claims that it will be his way of making amends to Jenny.
Juliet picks up a call from her brother. She apologises for not visiting and explains that she met Nate, adding that his father has just been transferred there. She explains that Nate isn't like the others, but Ben asks her what will happen when Nate starts asking questions about why Ben is in prison. Juliet admits that she doesn't want to lie to Nate anymore and Ben suggests that she might be right. He adds that she deserves to be happy. Juliet thanks him and hangs up. When she has gone, Ben asks one of his fellow inmates if he knows of a new prisoner with the surname Archibald. The inmate points out Nate's father and Ben asks to be introduced.
Back at Rufus and Lily's, Serena is reading Colin's book. Lily arrives home and asks what she's doing there. Serena admits that she has come over to borrow some jewellery for the ball that evening. Lily spots that Serena is reading a book by one of her professors and praises her for taking such a challenging course. She adds that she is thrilled that Serena is thinking about her future instead of focusing on boys. Serena thanks her but looks uncomfortable.

Serena finds Lily and explains that she met Colin before she knew he would be her professor. She adds that she is going to drop the class so there are no conflicts. However, Lily tells her that she understands the lure of powerful men and explains that it will make Serena's life easier. She suggests that Serena wouldn't have been able to cope with the class and adds that with Serena's looks she doesn't really need an education. Serena storms off angrily and Lily explains to Rufus that she was trying a bit of reverse psychology. Later, Colin gets up to accept his 'Eligible Bachelor' award and announces that he would gladly give it up for the right woman. However, Serena approaches her mother and asks if they can leave. Colin watches them go.

Elsewhere, Nate is on the phone to someone and says: "No one by that name? OK, thank you." When he hangs up, Juliet arrives and notices that something is wrong. Nate admits that he called the prison because he thought Juliet's brother was an inmate. He apologises for being paranoid but explains that he has often believed girls when he shouldn't have done so and wants to make sure they are open with each other. Juliet agrees and explains: "That's why I came over. There are some things I need to tell you about you and your family." However, the pair are interrupted when Nate's phone rings. It's the prison, who inform him that his dad has been jumped by another inmate and is in the infirmary. Nate hurriedly leaves. Juliet's phone beeps and she reads a text from her brother Ben: "Did you get my message?" Nate visits his father, who admits that he has never seen his attacker before. Nate is unhappy that his mother has not been visiting and adds that he wishes she could see how well his father is doing now. "You can see it," his dad says. "That's enough for now." He asks Nate to tell him more about the girl he likes.
Serena arrives at Columbia to leave a note under Colin's door but realises that he is in his office. He explains that he has decided to work harder on his classes now that he knows they are so important to Serena. He adds that he knows she needs to figure out her future but points out that his class only lasts seven weeks. "I'm willing to wait if you are," he says.
Chuck visits Blair and tells her that Jenny is right. He suggests that they stop blaming each other and admit that the night he slept with Jenny was no-one's fault, adding: "It was fate." Blair agrees that if some events hadn't taken place everything would be different, but says: "But it's not." Chuck tells her that they are holding onto pain because that's all they have left. "We don't have to," he says. "We have a choice." Blair shakes his hand and offers a truce, but pulls her hand away quickly and tells him to show himself out.
Nate rings Juliet and tells her that he just got home. He asks her to come over but she refuses. He tells her that his dad is OK, but Juliet replies: "I'm glad, but Nate... Oh God, this is so hard." Nate claims that she is breaking up with him because she found out that his dad is in prison. Juliet says that Nate is different from everyone she has ever known but he replies: "Save it. You're exactly like everyone I've ever known." Someone arrives at Juliet's location and she hangs up. It soon emerges that it is Colin. "I assume you're here for your cheque?" he asks, before handing one over. He asks how it is going and she replies: "You were not kidding when you said it would be challenging." Colin tells her: "All good things are worth waiting for, aren't they? To patience." They clink glasses.
The episode ends with Gossip Girl saying: "The most dangerous enemies are the ones you never knew you had. So if you want peace, always be prepared for war."
