The L Word star will play DC Comics villainess Agent Amanda Waller in several instalments of the superhero series, reports Entertainment Weekly.
Grier first came on the scene as a 1970s blaxploitation actress in films like Foxy Brown and Coffy. She starred in Quentin Tarantino's 1997 movie Jackie Brown and has appeared in a number of TV shows, including Ghosts of Mars and Law & Order.
The 60-year-old will make her Smallville debut in January in the second hour of the two-part episode 'Legends', penned by comic book writer Geoff Johns.
