Pauly D and Vinny Guadagnino encouraged their Twitter followers to donate to the American Red Cross relief efforts via text message, and Guadagnino also advised Staten Island residents to be on the lookout for doorstep scammers trying to gain access to people's homes with the aim of stealing their possessions.

MTV said in a statement released to Examiner: "Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of those affected by the hurricane, especially our friends and business owners in Seaside Heights, New Jersey who are now part of the MTV family.

"MTV is actively exploring ways to best help with the recovery efforts, and in the meantime we are encouraging everyone to donate to the American Red Cross's disaster relief efforts."
