Writers' strike benefited '24', claims boss

24 boss Jon Cassar has claimed that the writers' strike boosted the show, despite the seventh season being postponed for a year.

"We probably benefited more than anybody because of the writers' strike," the drama's director and executive producer told website THR.

"Every year, for six years now, we've had virtually a three week gap between when you see the finale and when the boys start writing again - and that's not a lot of time.

"It's been really tough. So the writers' strike did open up a gap that was beneficial for us."

However, he added that the huge delay has not led to the entire season being fully scripted in advance, saying: "Have we written all the way to the end? No. It might be thought out that way... but it's not the way they write the show."
