Carlos Bernard explains '24' return
Published Wednesday, Jan 14 2009, 08:12 GMT | By Ben Rawson-Jones

Speaking to Digital Spy about the origins of his return in the new season, Bernard said that producers behind Almeida's 'death' in Day Five "sort of left the door open - there was definitely an idea that he might not really be dead".
He also revealed that an earlier return for Almeida was rejected, saying: "It actually started in [2006] - that's when they called me up to pitch this idea for the end of the sixth season. I think we all agreed that it wasn't quite right and then they started talking about the seventh season."
Bernard continued: "The summer before we started shooting we were in discussions about an idea for the seventh season built around the character coming back. I was happy to come back if the idea was right, and the idea they finally came up with, I thought was great."
