Classic Moments: Jack and Nina Unite ('24')
Published Sunday, Jan 25 2009, 07:00 GMT | By Ben Rawson-Jones

The Context
With a nuclear bomb in an undisclosed location in Los Angeles, Jack Bauer felt compelled to track down Nina Myers and bring her back to CTU for interrogation. However, after apprehending her, the plane they were travelling on was brought down by a strike and the pair emerged from the crash site alive. The other survivors were soon shot dead by the Coral Snake soldiers on the ground and it became clear that both Jack and Nina were in the firing line.
The Moment
Jack realises that he cannot fend off the attack alone, and opts to supply Nina with a rifle and urges her to work with him or else they will both die. She agrees, and the pair pick off the soldiers one by one.
A CTU helicopter arrives on the scene to help finish off the Coral Snake soldiers. This distracts Jack, though, with potentially fatal consequences.
Unsurprisingly, Nina's true colours emerge again and she levels her rifle at Jack when his back is momentarily turned. She contacts David Palmer on the phone and demands a full presidential pardon for her past crimes and one future one - the murder of Jack Bauer.
The Aftermath
Palmer agrees to the pardon but only under Jack's coercion. Nina supplies them with the address of the bomb and prepares to end her former lover's life. However, a sniper appears on the scene just in time and takes Nina out before Jack could be killed. Nina ends up escaping into the wild yet again, and the pair will meet for the final time in Day Three.
