Jon Cassar has quit as executive producer on 24 after six years in the role.
Cassar confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that he will not be involved in the eighth season of the real-time drama, which begins shooting in May for transmission next year.
"Although that's sad for me to leave after six years, it's also very exciting to be back in the marketplace working with different people and facing different challenges," said Cassar. His first project will be Washington Field, a new pilot for CBS.
