'24's Day 8 - Jack Bauer v Davros

Revelation of the Davros
Sci-fi fans were already lapping up the fact that Bauer's early nemesis in Day 8 was played by Doug Hutchinson – aka legendary shapeshifter Eugene Tooms from The X-Files. He assumed the fake guise of a fireman called Mikey to prepare his hit on President Hassan, but it wasn't until the start of the third episode that his real name was flagged up in the opening credits – Davros! Sadly, he didn't survive long enough for Bauer to interrogate him, cut off his hand and wail: "Damn it, Davros! Where's the goddamn reality bomb?!"

No Kim kidnapping!
Kim Bauer surfaced in two episodes before taking her flight to Los Angeles – and at no stage was she wrapped up in a tedious subplot involving her becoming the target of the baddies or any nearby cougars. Phenomenal.
Renee's Thumb War
When Renee Walker returned to action, she obviously had a screw loose due to the turbulent events of Day 7. Yet that didn't quite prepare us for how seriously messed up she actually was. After resuming an undercover role to get back into the Russian mob circles, she enticed a crooked associate to put his hand in a vice in order to remove an electronic tag. Much to his horror, and Jack's, she then uttered the immortal line: "I'm not going to cut the bracelet."
Off went the guy's thumb courtesy of a power saw – and memories of poor Chase Edmunds from the end of Day Three came flooding back!
Chloe's scowlicious put downs

Jack Bauer goes Kraut!
When Jack said he'd go undercover as German buyer Ernst Meier to help Renee pull off the nuclear weapons deal, we couldn't wait to hear Bauer's accent. The CTU legend donned some thick-rimmed glasses and lit up a ciggie to get into character, too. Then he started speaking to Vladimir's cronies… and the voice was the same! The attempts to explain this were hilarious, as 'Ernst' professed to have spent a lot of time in American universities. Come on Jack, you took all those drugs to go undercover with the Salazars – the least you could have done was attempt a German accent and pull off a few Dr Strangelove-style Nazi salutes.
The Battlestar Galactica Benevolent Fund
Has your show come to an end? Are you looking for work? If so, then 24 has a job for you. Or at least it did for a couple of BSG regulars – Katee 'Starbuck' Sackhoff and Callum Keith 'Leoben' Rennie. They both had plenty of screen-time as their duplicitous 24 characters Dana and Vladimir, although they sadly never shared a scene together.
Renee's stabbing frenzy!
Definitely one of 24's most powerful and shocking scenes came during the closing stages of Day 8's seventh hour. Not only did Renee justifiably attack Vladimir – she was clearly depicted stabbing him with a knife repeatedly through the legs. That's perfectly fine to show on primetime network US television. However, one Janet Jackson nipslip causes all hell to break loose. The groin garrotting wasn't the end of Renee's spree either, as she instinctively turned round and stabbed Jack when he rushed over to comfort her. Oops. Maybe Renee would have been more chilled if Jack just attempted a slight hint of a German accent beforehand…
