Howard Gordon told Assignment X that executives were unhappy with the story penned by State Of Play and Flightplan scribe Billy Ray.
"There was a script, but ultimately it wasn't the right proposition," he said. "It wasn't strong enough or compelling enough to the studio obviously to move ahead with it."
Gordon also admitted that he currently does not know what is happening with the film.
"The movie is something that right now I'm not engaged [with] or involved in," he said. "The rumours are that [director] Tony Scott has an idea that he is going to run by, or has run by, Kiefer Sutherland. I don't know what the status of it is."
