Digital Spy's roundup of the fourth group of semifinalists in American Idol.
Sylvia Chibiliti, Sacramento, CA
---
Simon: "Sounded to me like you were shouting the song... you sing like a ventriloquist's puppet. Your mouth is over accentuated, " "I disagree."
Paula: "You oversang the song, a little bit oversung. A really interesting sultry thing... but no need to oversing."
Randy: "It was a pretty good performance... a little sharp at the end... something that draws me off a bit, the pronunciation of the words."
=====
Chip Days - Hampton, GA
---
Simon: "Uhhh.. interesting. The jumper's horrific. It gets better, trust me... you looked at the end the same way I look in the dentist's chair - in pain. Having said that, you sang better than Rickey last week. But what you don't have is Rickey's personality. Looks like you just turned up and sang... that's the problem."
Paula: "I really love your voice, and the song selection. Good for you."
Randy: "I'm looking for unbelievable... didn't see any emotion."
=====
Juanita Barber
---
Simon: "That was not good. Juanita, Juanita, Juanita... you chose the wrong song. Things started dying on the flowery background... I think America would be putting its fingers in its ears." // "I think America picked the wrong judges." \\ "Juanita, I have ears. The song didn't suit your voice. It didn't sound very good..." // "Why?"" \\ "...because you sang it."
Paula: "I'm seeing a lot of oversinging. Again, subtlety is key."
*Juanita stalks off stage*
=====
Patrick Lake - Athens, GA
---
Simon: "Honestly Patrick - I think we made a mistake putting you here. I think if this was a programme for rock idols, you wouldn't have made it. I think you're a wolf in sheep's clothing." // "But this is American Idol, and America is rock and roll. Rock and roll is here! It's hard to do rock with just a piano."
Paula: "My only comment is that we got to enjoy you accappella. It's really difficult, you're really refreshing."
Randy: "Rock singer from Atlanta... today, this wasn't quite the right song. Didn't really have the growl... you were shouting. But it was good, dude."
=====
Nasheka - New York, NY
---
Simon: "You look the part, you could sound the part, that song was too old for you. I think if you go into the top ten, you'll do really well."
Paula: "One of my comments in Glendale was - work on your showmanship. You have a lovely voice, you really do."
Randy: "Very beautiful, you look great. I didn't feel anything from you performance-wise... you looked very stoic, when the song's full of emotion."
=====
Joshua Gracin - Oceanside, CA
---
Simon: "There's been some comment about you being a marine, and that you being in AI will affect you being called away with your unit if... what do you have to say about that?" // "I'm a marine. That's all... I'm a marine." // *Simon applauds* "I've always liked you... and it just looks right you standing there with 'American Idol'. You're a really nice guy, and I really hope you do well in this competition because you deserve to."
Randy: "Welcome, man. Finally a good singer, singing a song that's perfect."
=====
Ashley Hartman - Ladera Ranch, CA
---
Simon: "Oh God. You're beautiful, but when you started to sing - you sounded like you should be singing on a cruise ship - then half way through, I thought the ship should be sinking."
Paula: "Very sexy and girlish vibe. The camera loves you."
Randy: "Very beautiful, you look amazing, you have a Marilyn Munroe thing going on. But the helium voice isn't working for me."
=====
Corey Clark - San Bernardino, CA
---
*all judges applaud*
Simon: "You put me in a good mood now! It's made the competition more exciting."
Paula: "Unbelievable. Great song. You blew me away. Unique. Refreshing. I'm really excited. You took this seriously, good for you."
Randy: "Great song. In tune."
