'American Idol' final twelve named

Wednesday's episode of smash hit American Idol ranged from the light-hearted to the bizarre as the reality TV results show was stretched out - agonisingly, at times - to a full hour in FOX's primetime lineup.
On Tuesday night's episode, Simon admitted he was in a "bad mood", and made his displeasure quite clear when it came to giving his views on the wildcard group's performances. The contestants got their own back on Wednesday night when the show featured a series of picture stills showing Simon sulking; Simon, although initially amused, proceeded to launch a bizarre on-air attack on the series' executive producers to explain his bad mood, saying they were "a joy to work with... not," and that they were "pains in the ass." After the third commercial break, Paula and Randy said he should apologise - Simon corrected himself and called them "jerks," followed by a mock wrist-slapping while muttering "naughty Simon" in a remarkably camp style. Cynics may care to consider whether this was scripted to make the ad breaks, coming around every eight to twelve minutes, slightly less tedious; time will tell.
The American public picked Clay Aiken to go through to the final twelve, joining Simon's choice of Carmen Rasmusen, Paula's choice of Trenyce, and Randy's choice of Kimberly Caldwell. Already confirmed in the final twelve are: Charles Grigsby, Julia DeMato, Kimberley Locke, Ruben Studdard, Rickey Smith, Vanessa Olivarez, Joshua Gracin, and Corey Clark.
Viewers in the UK will see all the action from tonight's show when it airs, in its extended form, on Friday night on ITV2.
