Cowell 'soaked' by 'Idol' contestant

Simon Cowell has received feedback of a rather moist variety after indicating his displeasure at one American Idol contestant's attempt at singing.

Press reports indicate that the Idol judge was so lost for words after one contestant's audition that he simply stood up and held his head in his hands. The contestant walked across the room, and according to the Evening Standard, "appeared to be reaching to shake his [Cowell's] hand." However, the contestant grabbed a cup of water and, after a few seconds of tussling with Cowell - who by this stage had realised that things were heading in a watery direction - sloshed the contents over Cowell's head.

American Idol 3 premieres on Monday, January 19 on FOX, and will be shown in the UK on ITV2 beginning on January 23.
