Season one's American Idol runner up Justin Guarini has hired a new management team after being ditched by his record label.
Speaking on On Air with Ryan Seacrest yesterday (Tuesday), Guarini confirmed that he had parted company with his former management company and record label RCA.
"As far as management goes, I had a great conversation with Simon Fuller who is just a brilliant man," said Guarini. "We ended things on great terms, I just felt it was time to move on. They did so much for me; I wouldn't be sitting here if it weren't for them.
"As for RCA, I had to find out that i was dropped from an inch-by-inch article in Us magazine, then it was confirmed by a Saturday Live skit. So I didn't get a fax, a phone call, email or anything."
Since being axed, Guarini has been quick to surround himself with a new management team.
"It was really tough at first but out everything bad comes something really great," he continued. "Right now I've signed with Benny Medina, a well-known manager who's worked with J Lo, Will Smith, Ricky Martin and Brandy.
"I've got such blessed company now. I've also got a new agent Don Buchwald, so out of all that seemingly bad stuff, which I kind of really chalk up to experience, I've got an amazing team of people around me. I'm back!"
Guarini added that he would be "taking time" to write a new album but more immediately would be trying to land a part in a new show for the '04-'05 season.
"Right now it's pilot season and we're agressively going after a network show, then I'm taking the next 6-8 months to write my album. We're going to make it really authentic, something that comes right from my heart and take some time with it, which really wasn't available last time because of the American Idol machine."
