Almost 30 million viewers tuned in for the final American Idol auditions show on Wednesday.
Early figures show that the programme - covering the auditions from Hawaii - pulled a 15.8 rating and a 24% audience share, equating to around 28 million viewers.
The audience was down slightly on Tuesday's 29 million but still a massive victory for FOX.
The episodes will air in the UK this Friday on ITV2.
