American Idol bosses have reportedly told Paula Abdul to stop criticising the show after she made a series of negative comments in recent interviews.

The Idol judge accused bosses of allowing stalker Paula Goodspeed access to her house and referred to fellow judge Simon Cowell as an "uncontrollable brother".

According to TMZ, Idol producers warned Abdul not to say anything else derogratory about the show ahead of a scheduled appearance on The Late Show With David Letterman.

TMZ said: "AI suits got in touch with Paula and demanded that she not stoke the coals.

"AI made it clear - they were paying Paula's bills so she needed to play by their rules."
