Kris Allen 'not ready for children'

Kris Allen has revealed that he and his wife are not ready to start a family.

The American Idol winner told People that "now would not be a good time" to have children.

"We do not have any plans to start a family," he said. "Right now would not be a good time - I don't think that I would ever be around, so we are definitely gonna hold off on that for a while."

Allen also said that his wife would not be accompanying him on tour.

"My wife is not going to go with me on tour. She's still got a job so she's going to work," he explained. "She doesn't want to follow me around and I don't blame her."

The singer recently declared that Idol runner-up Adam Lambert deserved to win the show.
