The winner of this season's American Idol has reached an agreement with 19 Recordings, a division of Jive Records, says Billboard. His debut LP is slated for release in the US this autumn.
"As exciting as the last few months have been, I'm really looking forward to what is next," the singer said in a statement.
He added that his first record will be "very similar" to what he sang on the show, confirming that it was "definitely in the pop/rock genre".
The chairman and CEO of Jive, Barry Weiss, said that the company is excited to be working with Allen.
"He's a super-talented singer and all-around gifted musician who has that rare common touch which will give him the ability to connect with the broadest possible audience," he said of the Arkansas native.
