The American Idol runner-up declared that he was gay in an interview with Rolling Stone earlier this week, in which he also made known that he was unwilling to proclaim his sexual identity at a later date, unlike the reality show's second season contestant Clay Aiken, MTV reports.
"I didn't want the Clay Aiken thing and celebrity magazine bulls**t. I need to be able to explain myself in context," he said in the article.
The pair have been entangled in a war of words ever since Aiken revealed his dislike of Lambert's singing.
The 'Invisible' performer later apologised to Lambert, who addressed Aiken’s comments by saying that he was "glad he's getting headlines now".
