The 27-year-old American Idol runner-up said that he has no regrets about coming out publicly and was pleased to see the magazine's cover, Us reports.
"I'm really happy with it. The cover looks great. It was great working with [photographer] Matthew Rolston," he said. "And the title - 'The Liberation of Adam Lambert' - I do feel liberated. I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders."
Lambert added that he did not disclose his sexual orientation while on the competition because the issue would have been "so sensationalised that it would overshadow what I was there to do, which was sing".
He said: "It's not like I was holding back before. I was being myself, but it's nice to have everything out in the open."
Last week, the singer revealed that he did not want to do “the Clay Aiken thing” by masking his sexuality.
