The deal would see his presenting duties on the popular singing competition continue for three more years, and make him one of the highest-paid reality show personalities on television.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Seacrest's current contract will expire at the end of next season, while his present salary is reported to be $5 million (£3 million) per year. However, the exact amount he would net under the new agreement has not been revealed.
In addition to staying on with the programme, he is said to be in discussions to develop new television series' through 19 Entertainment under Idol creator Simon Fuller.
The American Idol judges are also reportedly renewing their contracts. Seacrest revealed last month that he is confident that all four panelists, including Kara DioGuardi and Paula Abdul, will return for the next season of the show.
