David Sonenberg told the Los Angeles Times that producers of the hit reality show are refusing to confirm whether they want Abdul back.
"She's not a happy camper as a result of what's going on. She's hurt. She's angry," Sonenberg confirmed in an interview with the newspaper.
He added: "I find it under these circumstances particularly unusual - I think unnecessarily hurtful. I find it kind of unconscionable and certainly rude and disrespectful that they haven't stepped up and said what they want to do.
"Very sadly, it does not appear that she's going to be back on Idol."
Meanwhile, Abdul used her Twitter page to comment on the situation after receiving messages of support from her fans yesterday.
She said: "God bless all of you! If it weren't for you, this specific time and situation would feel a whole lot worse!"
The 47-year-old popstar has been a judge on the popular programme since 2002, appearing in all eight seasons.
