A US university is planning a course to accompany the upcoming fourth season of American Idol.
Students at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte will earn three credit hours if they enrol for 'Examining 'American Idol' Through Musical Critique,' beginning in January.
The class will watch both episodes of the show each week and devise their own rating system for the contestants.
Students will learn the history of the weekly Idol themes such as Broadway and Motown.
The final project will be an essay on who should win and why.
