Shania Twain 'linked to American Idol'

Shania Twain is the latest celebrity that has been linked to a guest judge position on American Idol.

According to People, the country superstar has been rumoured to join judges Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi at an upcoming audition episode.

It has been suggested that she could appear at the Chicago taping at the end of August.

Producers have recently lined up a series of guest judges, including Victoria Beckham and Mary J. Blige, as temporary replacements for departed panellist Paula Abdul.

Earlier today, popstar Jessica Simpson denied speculation that her father was hoping to secure her a permanent spot on the judging panel.
