The comedienne, who is replacing departed judge Paula Abdul, will join Simon Cowell, Kara DioGuardi and Randy Jackson for the Hollywood Round, beginning February 9.
The Hollywood Round will see the auditionees hoping to impress the judges with their solo numbers and group performances in a bid to win a place in the Top 24.
The Top 24 will be revealed on February 17, with the Top 12 female semi-finalists performing live for for the judges and the public for the first time on February 23, and the Top 12 male semi-finalists making their debut on February 24.
The first live results show will air February 25, with two females and two males being sent home.
American Idol continues tonight on Fox.
