The Top 12 females made their debut live performances on Tuesday night, with the Top 12 males taking to the stage yesterday.
Writing on his Twitter account, Lambert - who finished runner-up on last season's competition - singled out three of the hopefuls to watch.
"Todrick's [Hall] def gonna surprise us! Mad talent! Def the full package. Casey [James] is def the real deal. Authentic. Andrew Garcia's too," he wrote.
Hall performed a rendition of Kelly Clarkson's 'Since U Been Gone', which failed to impress the judges, while Garcia's acoustic version of 'Sugar, We're Going Down' by Fall Out Boy was also criticised.
James - who took his shirt off during his first audition - was praised for his performance of Bryan Adams's 'Heaven', with Simon Cowell saying it was the "best" they had ever heard from him.
American Idol continues tonight on Fox.
