The 24-year-old was disqualified from the 2003 season of the talent contest after failing to admit an outstanding criminal charge involving his sister.
Now the singer is apparently alleging that he had sex with Abdul, 42, in the guest room of her house and that she promised to fund his career to the tune of $2 million (£1.05 million).
"[Abdul] told [Clark] she wanted to look out for him and be his ‘special friend,’" says the magazine article. "But he claims she warned him that he couldn’t tell anyone or she’d make things very hard for him, cautioning, ‘Don’t screw me or you’ll be sorry.’"
Clark's claims are said to come in a new book he has been shopping to publishers.
Globe also says Clark was told that Justin Guarini, runner-up of the first season, "bragged about having an affair with Paula" too. Guarini's publicist has denied the suggestion.
A spokesperson for Abdul said that she "disputes the allegations contained in the book proposal."
