Plans for the show were first reported on DS back in December. American Idol Extra will be a 19 Entertainment-Fremantle co-production and will take a format similar to that of the UK spin-off shows.
The first show will air on Thursday, March 16 and continue to air weekly after the public vote-off show until the end of the season.
