The remaining seven contestants will perform tracks released from January 1, 2001 onwards on the Wednesday performance show, it has been announced.
It has also been confirmed that the following evening Katy Perry will perform her single 'E.T.' on the results show, while season seven winner David Cook will premiere his new track 'The Last Goodbye'.
This week's theme saw the Top 8 performing memorable songs from the movies, while other themes this season have included songs by the contestants' idols and tracks from the years in which they were born.
More than 53 million votes were cast following this week's performances, which saw another contestant departing the competition on Thursday. Rihanna performed her new single 'California King Bed', while season one winner Kelly Clarkson and Jason Aldean teamed for their track 'Don't You Wanna Stay' during the results show.
Host Ryan Seacrest later tweeted a message to Clarkson saying: "Good seeing u tonight kel! We always love having u back on the show... bring me new music soon! (sic)"
American Idol airs Wednesdays and Thursdays.
