Determined Chris Daughtry is preparing to launch his career as fans express their outrage at his' American Idol loss last week.
Viewers voted the tipped-to-win rocker off last week, sparking rumours of technological errors and rigging.
Daughtry himself admitted he was shocked but put his loss down to complacent fans. "They didn't have to vote as hard, and I think that was the downfall, in my opinion," he explained. "It was definitely a gut-wrenching moment and I was not expecting it, even a little bit."
Meanwhile, he is committed to developing a pop career regardless. "There's gonna be a flooding of opportunities, I can't really talk about them," he commented. "I'm going to use this to launch my career.
"I'm a songwriter myself. To be able to launch my own career would be a dream come true."
According to one rumour, established band Fuel – whose song Daughtry performed on Idol - are set to ask him to be their lead singer.
Industry expert Jeff Walker said he has an excellent chance of making it big. "I think he should definitely pursue that at this point," said the AristoMedia president. "He's got a lot of people that like him."
