The season ten winner told Billboard that he would be tuning in when the new instalment of the singing competition premieres in January on Fox.
McCreery said: "I'm looking forward to it like no other season. I'll be watching those kids and know exactly what they're going through and the nerves they're feeling. It'll be fun to watch.
"I've watched for 10 seasons strong now, but it'll definitely be different to watch it this year."
Judges Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson will all return for the 11th season of American Idol, which begins Sunday, January 22 immediately following the NFC Championship Playoff Game on Fox.
McCreery - who released debut album Clear As Day earlier this year - also told the magazine that he is excited about his upcoming slot on Brad Paisley's tour, beginning January.
"It's just going to be incredible. I've grown up listening to Brad, loving his music. I can probably sing every single one of the words to his songs. It's gonna be fun, and a learning experience for me. It's gonna be a great time."
McCreery recently debuted the music video for new single 'The Trouble With Girls', the second single to be lifted from Clear As Day.
