'American Idol' eliminee: 'I wasn't surprised about exit'

Joshua Ledet has revealed that he was not surprised about his elimination from American Idol.

The 20-year-old was sent home last night, leaving Jessica Sanchez and Phillip Phillips in the final two.

Ledet, who became emotional after the result, explained that the comforting words from everyone caused him to begin crying.

"I feel good about the whole situation, but when people come up to you and try to comfort you and hug you, then the tears start coming, and then a whole bunch of other stuff," he told People. "So just getting their support, it kind of took over, and I kind of lost it a little."

Ledet, who said he is "super excited" for Phillips and Sanchez, added: "I was trying to hold a smile up, and I was definitely not upset. I felt relieved. A lot of pressure was off of me, and I feel really good."

American Idol continues with the first part of its final on Tuesday (May 22) at 8/7c on Fox.
