Stacy Keibler has denied actively campaigning for a role on American Idol.

The former Dancing with the Stars contestant was the subject of a Star report claiming that she hopes her career benefits from her relationship with George Clooney.

An apparent insider told the publication that Keibler recently set her sights on landing a job on American Idol in some capacity.

"Rumour has it, she's on a mission to get a spot on American Idol. She was all over Randy Jackson at the AMAs recently, hugging and getting all touchy-feely - which completely baffled everyone," the source commented.

A spokesperson for Keibler has described that tabloid report as "false" in a statement to Gossip Cop.

Keibler has lined up a new television project as the host of Lifetime's Supermarket Superstars, which will seek to find the next successful food product.

She has rarely spoken about her relationship with Clooney, which is said to have begun in August 2011.

The ex-WWE star did, however, recently quash rumours that she and Clooney were planning to marry in the near future.
